A U.S. college baseball team sponsored by Choi Ji-Man (32, Pittsburgh) for eight years has reached the World Series.

“Our team is in the College World Series,” Ed Truzillo, head coach of the Glendale College baseball team in Arizona, recently told Star News. “Our players worked hard, but it was also a big part of the motivation of our baseball team, which was helped by the consistent donations of cash, in-kind, and talent over the years,” he said.

Choi and the Glendale College baseball team first connected in 2016. As a minor league free agent at the time, Choi reached out to Glendale College because he didn’t have a place to train, and even as a major leaguer, he has continued his quiet good deed by visiting the college every offseason to practice and donate cash and in-kind items.

“I’m really happy, and I’m proud of the young players,” Choi told Star News after hearing the news of the Glendale College baseball team advancing to the World Series. “They’re young, so I hope they’ll do their best in every game and produce good results while being careful of injuries,” he said.

“If they win the championship, we will meet in the offseason after the major league season and have a nice dinner,” he added with a smile.

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II (DII) World Series will be held in Enid, Oklahoma, USA, from May 28 to June 3. The top 10 teams in the country based on regular-season performance will compete for the title.토토사이트

The Glendale College baseball team has had eight players selected in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft in the last three years. “Our players, especially the outfielders, have been working on their dreams of going to the pros by taking batting practice with Choi,” said Turujillo. “His constant help and motivation, including advice and skill transfer, have had a positive impact and are leading to good results.”
