LG Austin was responsible for an error that led to a first-inning run.

LG won the first game of a doubleheader against SSG in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League 8-3 on Sunday afternoon at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul.

LG extended its winning streak to three games with 73 wins, two ties and 47 losses, while SSG dropped its fourth straight game with 62 wins, two ties and 58 losses.

Austin started at first base and batted fourth.  In the top of the first inning, Austin tried to catch Shin-soo Choo’s single, but was unfortunate to make a throwing error. He explained the situation to Shin-Soo Choo, who took off for first base.

SSG took the lead in the second inning when Heredia singled and Park Sung-hwan doubled to put runners on second and third.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, with LG trailing 2-1, Austin took a 137-kilometer slider from Kim Kwang-hyun for the game-winning home run over the left-center field fence. The ball traveled like a bullet at 170 kilometers per hour.

Austin circled the bases, celebrating as if he had made up for his mistake, much to the delight of manager Yeom Kyung-geul and his teammates.

However, in the top of the fifth, SSG’s Han Yoo-seom singled to put runners on first and third, and Choi Joo-hwan singled to make it 3-2.

After Shin Min-jae singled in the bottom of the sixth inning, the game resumed after being suspended for about 70 minutes due to a sudden downpour of rain.  LG added three runs in the bottom of the sixth and eighth innings to win 8-3.

LG’s Go Woo-seok came on with runners on first and second and third in the bottom of the eighth and got out of the jam by striking out Kim Kang-min and getting Choo Shin-soo to fly out to center field.  Go Woo-seok, who was also on the mound in the top of the ninth, ended the game without allowing a run. 토토사이트
