Leicester City transplants Manchester City colors.
“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Enzo Maresca as head coach of Leicester City, who has signed a contract until 2026 and will immediately begin preparations for the English Football League Championship (EFL Championship),” the club announced on its website on Sunday.
“Italian coach Maresca previously served as Man City’s first-team coach under Pep Guardiola. Last season, he helped the club win the English Premier League (EPL), English FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League (UCL). Maresca will begin a new era as the club challenges for promotion and a return to the EPL.”
Leicester chairman Aiyawat Siwatanapra said: “Marseka is a great fit for what we are trying to achieve. His philosophy as a coach has been built on a rich and varied career. It matches our vision for the next page of Leicester’s history. He has been on our radar for a long time and the feeling became even stronger immediately after our meeting. I have no doubt that he will be warmly welcomed by the supporters and that he will lead us to success.”
“I’m very excited about the club (I’ve joined) and the season ahead of us. The goal is to play the best we can. The most important thing is to try to win games. We will give absolutely 100%. Because Leicester deserve it. I’m sure we will progress step by step.”먹튀검증
Leicester were relegated to the EFL Championship seven years after their glorious 2015-16 campaign. Manager Brendan Rodgers was eventually sacked, and firebrand Dean Smith failed to retain his job. The Foxes were a dark horse, but were ultimately relegated.
Leicester are back in the running for promotion with the appointment of Maresca. Maresca played for Juventus, Sevilla, Olympiakos, and Málaga during his playing days, and began his coaching career shortly after retiring. He went on to become head coach at Sevilla and West Ham United. Last year, he joined Guardiola’s staff as Man City coach and was part of their miraculous treble. Leicester will embark on a new project with Maresca.
