Cuban left-hander Roenis Elias picked up his second win of the season with an inning-eater.
Elias started the game against the KIA Tigers on June 6 at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field and pitched seven innings, allowing just one run on five hits (one home run) with two strikeouts. He earned his second win of the season in a 2-1 victory. Romero has made a successful transition to the closer role.
From the first inning, he was on fire. He retired the first three batters he faced. In the second inning, he gave up a single to Kim Sun-bin, but Lee Woo-sung made a good throw to first baseman Kang Jin-sung for a double play. In the third, he gave up a single, but Shin Beom-soo struck out and Ryu Ji-hyuk grounded into a double play.
In the fourth inning, a changeup to the first batter, Park Chan-ho, was misplayed and led to a solo shot to left. He then gave up an infield single to Socrates, but got the next batter to ground out to end the threat. A strikeout in the fifth and a single in the sixth ended the inning. The Kia bats were unable to solve the clue.
The seventh inning was the most critical. Kim Sun-bin and Lee Woo-sung were hit by consecutive singles. With runners on first and third, Byun Woo-hyuk induced a ground ball in front of the pitcher and threw directly to the catcher to get the runner at third. Shin then struck out swinging to end the threat. He finished the game with 108 pitches. The SSG fans on the first base side applauded loudly.
There was also a particularly interesting scene. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Kia asked the umpires to inspect Elias’ glove for foreign objects. The umpires took a closer look and confirmed that there was nothing wrong with it. It was a testament to the power of Elias’s ball.먹튀검증
His fastball (38 pitches) topped out at 150 mph and averaged 147 mph, and his changeup (38 pitches) had a sharp angle. He also threw 31 curveballs, which were effective against a KIA lineup that was loaded with triples. Most of his pitches were well placed in the strike zone. The lead SSG wears a Cuban express wing.
